    It’s nice to see this page. I was a career Postal employee, retiring in 2008 as Postmaster of Beckley, WV. However, I was born and raised in Logan County . . . graduated from Logan High in 1970. Thanks Dodie for the work you put into this.

    I have several letters with a post mark from Pine Creek WV. This post office was connected to the Island Creek Store #22. It existed circa 1950 1962. I think that Mable Wooten and Shirley Welch were the only two postmasters to serve there. Let’s hope this will induce Shirley to provide a better accounting of the Pine Creek Post Office

    I got a charge when reading the list of Omar post masters. My dad was postmaster in Omar from 1942 to 1953-my growing up years. Mrs Swango and Mrs Reed were clerks. His name-PD Young!

    Thank you, Dodie! This is such a nice tip of the hat to all of these good people. My Dad and his family always enjoyed their post office days. Dad’s father, William Haslam, died of black lung disease, and then Dad’s mother, Mary Ann Haslam took over the postal duties. This is wonderful. Again, many thanks! ~ Carla Haslam Herkner
