"This is David O Ryan who had his picture made with actor Robert Ryan while stationed at Camp Pendleton. He also had his photo taken with John Wayne but no one in the family can put their hands on it anymore sadly. David appeared as a radio operator in the movie The Flying Leathernecks .... they needed someone who could operate a radio, which he could do. In the theaters, he was very visible, appearing in the scene seated near a doorway operating the radio while some talking was going on in the foreground by the actors.... however, when the movie was cut down for television size, he was reduced to barely a shadow in the doorway. lol." -- Michele Ryan Kahle

My uncle’s name – Lee Taylor – is listed. He was killed November 26, 1944. There is a memorial in Leefdaal, Belgium honoring his B24 crew. I would like to share this with the residents there who honor US veterans every year.

Daniel, try looking for his service group online, they might have a Facebook site. Online search shows a few names for James, you need to know when he died. There are obits with the names. You might be able to contact his family members by reading the obits thus getting his photo.Sometimes Memorials on the Findagrave site have photos of the deceased person. You would have to know in which cemetery that James is buried. You can find this out by going to familysearch.org and finding his name and death record which will show you the name of the cemetery. You can also look in yearbooks, if you know where he went to school.
Daniel, there is a website, 319th Gliderman that tells the history of the group with many photos. After WWII their name was changed to the 82nd Airborne Division. No listing for James A. McCoy.
My mistake of my earlier post. The soldier buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten is T/4 James A. COYLE. He served in the 1st Bn, 319th Glider Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne. He was from Louisville, KY. In my haste to help you in your request, I missed the correct spelling of his last name. Unusual coincidence with the 319th….
Daniel, there is a Facebook site for the group. You can ask questions about photos for CPL. James Arnold McCoy. It would be great if you could write something about his history.
