Anna Mae Butcher (Aug. 15, 1924 - Jan. 11, 2015) served as an Army Nurse for over 30 years. She graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1942. She was born at Shively, W.Va., the fourth daughter of the late Tom E. and Anna Blair Butcher. She obtained her nursing degree from Logan General School of Nursing in 1951 and enlisted in the Army. She served various overseas assignments in France, Germany, Korea, Japan and Vietnam. Although, she wasn't one to talk much about it she was particularly proud of her service in Vietnam while providing care as Nursing Supervisor of the 85th EVAC Hospital, Qui Nhon, Vietnam and Chief Nurse at the 8th Field Hospital, Nha Trang, Vietnam. She was the recipient of numerous medals and commendations to include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters and Meritorious Service Medal. (Source: Logan Banner Obits.)

Pls make a correction attributed to me.
The photo attributed to me, Arlene Esque Rounce for Rezin Johnny Esque, is not him. Its my Uncle Eris Esque. (I also posted a photo of 3 brothers going off to war newspaper article which includes Rezin Johnny Esque and Eris Esque as well as Carmel Esque. The single photo is Eris Esque.
Looking for photos of James A. McCoy, 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion. WW2
Daniel, try looking for his service group online, they might have a Facebook site. Online search shows a few names for James, you need to know when he died. There are obits with the names. You might be able to contact his family members by reading the obits thus getting his photo.Sometimes Memorials on the Findagrave site have photos of the deceased person. You would have to know in which cemetery that James is buried. You can find this out by going to familysearch.org and finding his name and death record which will show you the name of the cemetery. You can also look in yearbooks, if you know where he went to school.
His photo is on the Fields of Honor website. It appears to be from The Courier-Journal – 7 November 1945

Daniel, there is a website, 319th Gliderman that tells the history of the group with many photos. After WWII their name was changed to the 82nd Airborne Division. No listing for James A. McCoy.
My mistake of my earlier post. The soldier buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten is T/4 James A. COYLE. He served in the 1st Bn, 319th Glider Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne. He was from Louisville, KY. In my haste to help you in your request, I missed the correct spelling of his last name. Unusual coincidence with the 319th….
Daniel, there is a Facebook site for the group. You can ask questions about photos for CPL. James Arnold McCoy. It would be great if you could write something about his history.
A photo and basic Ancestry information about Cpl James A McCoy (ASN: 35136567) is on the Gliderman website…
He’s from Logan Co, born in 1909 and killed in Sept 1944. He was repatriated to Logan Co for burial in 1949.

Terry, Outstanding job of research. Can James McCoy’s photo be transferred to this Logan WV website?
Bob, I have forwarded your email to the owner of the website for his OK. I can’t tell who owns the photo so it’s best he make that call.
RE: Photo of Purple Heart Award
