I loved the pictures, videos, and music. Thank you 🙏 so much! I was born in Richwood and raised in Little Laurel near Richwood. I moved around Wva to several places before I moved to South Carolina in 1987. I used to go back home five or six times a year to visit my parents in Weston. My mom passed away in 2010 and my dad lived with me here until he passed away in 2012. I still go back for high school reunions for class of 1964 in Burnsville. I am going back to Burnsville for a family reunion in September. I love going back home even though it’s a long drive. God bless all my families, friends, and everyone in West Virginia!!
Image 98912 is Eckman, WV in McDowell County.
Thanks. I will make the correction.
Your one 1938 photo suposedly of Welch has been determined to not be of Welch. I can’t remember where it is but not Welch. Might check with Alan Cathead Johnston and he might remember where it actually is.
Thanks. I will change the info.
That picture was taken in Eckman.
I was born in Mingo County and grew up in Wyoming County in the 30’s 40’s and 50’s. I enjoyed looking at all the photos. They brought back many memories.
My grandmother, Betty Antrim (Lankas) grew up in Logan in the 30s-40s. I am researching for genealogy, as well as trying to find pictures to show my grandma. Her dad was a coal miner but died in April 1942 in a coal mining accident. Thanks for putting together this website!
Your grandmother Betty was a sister to my grandmother Jennie Davis (Lankas).
Currently researching my family. A small pocket of my ancestors moved to Logan County in 1920 for reasons completely unknown to me. They had no ties to the area and were from a few states away. Anyone know if there was a booming industry of some sort that would have drawn them to relocate here for a single year?
Gretchen, Coall Mining was the industry.
Lots of stories on this website about the
coal miners

See the story, Whitman Mine Explosion.
I was born in Logan WV. in 1964. We lived in Crooked Creek for my first 2 years of life and we then moved to North Carolina. My kin folks were the Kerns and the Sellards. Our family used to visit WV in the summer to see my grandfolks and my aunt and uncle, who lived in Logan. We had so much fun visiting and playing with all the kids in the alley behind Fran and Clark’s(uncle and aunt) house.
My birth name is Dawn Thomas, but I changed it in 1997. Thanks for your site!
I grew up in WV, remember going to Hawks Nest with my mother and sisters all the time, and going to the Camden Park, riding the roller coaster was the best
Grew up in Huntington area and have great memories of Camden Park!
I found this website on FB but am currently accessing directly. Sharing the address with siblings as we all grew up in West Virginia but are all now living in other states.
Really enjoying your content.
